Comments and Feedback on the NSW Water Bug Survey
- It is a really fabulous program. My region has had over 50 groups participate in the last two surveys and the results are very useful when a site is studied over several years. We have also been very interested in the changes with the drought and then the rain prior to this season. I think it is a program we should be very proud of and let's hope it continues into the future. waterwatch coordinator
- I regret not involving the children in the identification process. I did all the identification myself while the children collected bugs, which was the easiest way but they didn't learn anything other than that splashing around in the water with a net is fun! Having some experience now, I think next year I will ask the senior children to help me identify the bugs. primary school teacher
- The Bugasaurus Explorus website is very easy to negotiate, bright and colourful. I like especially the Buglopedia pages and the Build a Bug one. community member
- The competition School Incentive was great incentive for kids to get involved in not only the collecting of the data but the entire process. It will be good for the kids to feel that their work is being recognised. school teacher
- The bug identification sheets are excellent and provide a great resource that we can use over and over again. council officer
- We find the kids really enjoy doing the Bug Survey twice a year. They love going down to the creek and concentrate very well trying to identify their bugs. They are also very keen to replace them in the waterway. It is a highlight of the term for them and they enjoy putting their results in online. school teacher
- On line is the best!! Easy communication, quick, user friendly, bright and colourful, available to individuals/teachers/students/parent. council officer
- The bug survey stands alone. It is a wonderful excuse to enjoy ourselves. community member
- I enjoyed it, and I was impressed with the attitude of the participants when they realised that their results would be an integral part of a state wide survey. waterwatch coordinator
- I thought it was a great day and am looking forward to the spring survey. The students had a great time and so did I. It was my first time at doing the bug survey and didn't realise what a blast it would be. So I am looking forward to hopefully getting a free kit from you so we can do more with schools and community groups. council officer
- I quite enjoyed the bug survey, as I already perform quarterly macroinvertebrate monitoring for the Council, it was good to involve the local school groups. council officer
