Getting Bugs

By catching bugs in a waterway near you and counting up the different types, you can tell how healthy or polluted the water is.

The NSW Bug Survey gathers the results from hundreds of groups across the State so the whole community can get an idea of the health of our waterways. All your results can be viewed on our website!

The survey is held twice a year, in autumn and spring — we don't want to disturb the bugs' lives by doing it more often!

Read on to find out all the necessary information on how you can
join in.

Make sure you get your Bug Detective Guide and Field Record Sheet!
