There is an army of bugs in every pond and stream
That suck up the the yuk so the water is clean

There’s also a navy of beetles and nymphs
Of mussels and snails and leeches and shrimps

There've been bugs in the water since time almost began
They saw in the fishes, the dinosaurs and man

The bugs in our water are both familiar and strange
There're big ones and small ones, oh-ho what a range

There’re creepies and crawlies and swimmers and wrigglers
Walkers and flyers and flippers and jigglers

The bugs in our water are important you know
Their types and their numbers all add up to show

The health and the wealth of our water, and so
On with your gumboots, to the creek you all go!

Join the Bug Survey in March or October
Join hundreds of groups and turn the streams over

Catch them and count them, then put them all back
Then figure the pollution and add yours to our stack
